一般社団法人日本クリケット協会（代表理事：アラム・アンソニー龍也）は本日９月22日（祝・火）、2026年ワールドカップ王者のクリケット男子インド代表を招き、「スズキ カップ ―日印国交樹立75周年 記念試合―」を栃木県佐野市国際クリケット場にて開催いたしました。
本本試合は、高市早苗内閣総理大臣とインドのナレンドラ・モディ首相による会談にて、日本とインドの国交樹立75周年を記念し友好の絆として行われた一戦です。世界屈指の強豪国であるクリケット男子インド代表が日本で親善試合を行うのは史上初めてのことで、会場には、日本国内で行われたクリケット試合での最高人数となる2,149人が訪れました。チケットは販売開始から、わずか数時間で完売。
会場には、“クリケットのまち”佐野市のクリケットファンのみならず、日本全国から集まった在日インド人や、初観戦を楽しむ人が集まりました。さらに、協会公式YouTubeでのライブ配信は英語・日本語合わせて200万回再生を突破。リアルとオンラインが一体となり、大いに盛り上がりました。

世界一のバッター、世界一のボーラーたちが集まる最高のチームと試合ができて光栄に思います。
彼らに対して、我々は健闘したと思いますし、若いプレイヤーも含め、選手たちは状況に応じた対応ができていました。
今回の試合を通して選手が良い経験が積めたので、これからが楽しみです。さらに上のステージへ
上がれるように頑張りたいと思います。

インドと日本はランキングにおいてギャップがありますが、試合を通じて自信をもって、プレーすることができました。
今回は残念ながら、負けてしまいましたが、今日の経験を活かして今後、上位のチームに勝って上を
目指していきたいです。また、インドとの大きな違いは教育プログラムにもあり、インドはどこでも
クリケットが行われる環境です。私たち日本のクリケットの課題として、佐野だけでなく、国内での
クリケットの認知拡大に挑戦してくこと。子供が上達していけるようなプログラムを作っていく必要があるかと思っています。

Suzuki Cup - India vs Japan 75th Anniversary Cricket Match
The event drew a crowd of 2,149 spectators, the highest attendance ever recorded
Japan vs India in the Suzuki Cup took place on Tuesday 22nd September hosted by the Japan Cricket Association. The match was held to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Japan-India Diplomatic Relations" and was held at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture. Japan, ranked 41st in the world, were taking on the current World Champions.
This match aimed to strengthen the bonds of friendship, following a summit meeting between Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It marked the first time in history that the Indian men's national cricket team-a global powerhouse-played a match against Japan; the event drew a crowd of 2,149 spectators, the highest attendance ever recorded for a cricket match held in the country. Tickets sold out within just a few hours of going on sale.
The venue was buzzing with excitement as fans gathered-not only from Sano City (known as a "City of Cricket") but also Indian residents from across Japan and newcomers enjoying their first-ever match. Additionally, the official YouTube stream surpassed 2 million views in English and Japanese, creating incredible excitement both offline and online.

It was an honor to play against a top-tier team featuring the world's best batters and bowlers.
I believe we put up a good fight against them, and the players-including the younger ones-
adapted well to the match situation. The players gained valuable experience from this game,
so I am excited about the future. We will work hard to reach the next level.

Despite the ranking gap between India and Japan, we were able to play with confidence
throughout the match and challenge them. Although we unfortunately lost this time, we want to use today's experience to eventually beat top-ranked teams and aim higher. A major
difference lies in the educational programs; India has an environment where cricket is played everywhere. For us in Japanese cricket, the challenge is to expand awareness of the sport not just in Sano, but across the country. I believe we need to create programs that allow children to improve their skills.
